G4 Reposado
In the world of Mexican liquors, G4 Reposado Tequila stands out. Crafted by Felipe Camarena, a fourth-generation tequila maker, it's a testament to tradition and innovation.
What Makes G4 Reposado Special?
G4 Reposado is aged for at least six months in oak barrels. This aging process imparts a golden color and enhances the flavor.
It's made using a unique blend of rainwater and spring water. This combination contributes to the distinct flavor profile and boasts a perfect balance of sweetness and crisp flavors, maintaining the clean taste of a blanco while adding notes gained from aging.
They do things differently at G4 Tequila. It’s a family-run business with a focus on innovation. The pinas are crushed with a spiked roller they built themselves. The firm recycles unused parts of the pinas as fertilizer for the new crop. And they use a 50% spring water/50% rainwater mix in the fermentation.
G4 Reposado Review
A subtle and non overpowering reposado. It retains the brightness of the G4 blanco but with additional sweetness.
Nose
Notes of agave, citrus, pepper and a hint of caramel.
Taste
The six months of ageing gives this tequila a hint of brown sugar, vanilla and a notably clean oak taste. However, there is still a taste of agave and citrus.
Aftertaste
A long pleasant finish with a mild, warm and sweet burn.
Appearance
This tequila is medium-bodied and boasts a warm, golden honey hue.
Presentation
By tradition, tequila makers colour-code their bottles. Arguably, the most elegant of the G4 Tequila range is the G4 Reposado with its regal gold lettering on a deep green label. The bottle sits tall and elegant with an extended bottle neck length. Each bottle contains 750ml of liquid.
What Is the Strength of G4 Reposado Tequila?
G4 Tequila Reposado boasts a 40% alcohol by volume (ABV), also known as 80 proof.
Where Does G4 Reposado Come From?
G4 reposado is produced in the highlands of Jalisco state, which is considered perfect for making tequila. Here the nights are so cold there is sometimes snow, but the days can get baking hot. The environment makes for a robust and healthy blue agave plant.
G4 Tequila – The Maker of G4 Reposado
G4 is shorthand for the four generations of a family that has been making tequila in Jalisco since 1937. It sounds plain in English, but in Spanish, it is pronounced as 'Gey Quattro’, Quattro translates as the number 4 in English.
How Best to Enjoy G4 Reposado?
G4 Tequila recommends pairing its reposado with tacos stuffed full of grilled meats. We recommend grilling thin strips of flank steak marinated ideally with olive oil and garlic.
G4 Tequila Reposado Cocktail Recipe
Fresh banana or a banana liqueur makes for a classic summer cocktail. There are many recipes for this, but we have chosen the one recommended by G4 themselves for their reposado. It is named the 12 Monkeys and uses an aromatic wine – Cocchi Americano, which can be sourced through specialist outlets. Mix G4 Tequila Reposado in a shaker with the banana liquor, the wine and ice until chilled.
-
50ml G4 Reposado
-
15ml banana liquor
