What is Añejo Tequila?
Añejo Tequila is legally required to be aged in oak barrels for a minimum of one year and upto a maximum of three years.
The barrels, often made from American or French oak, play a significant role in influencing the flavour. Over time, the tequila absorbs the characteristics of the wood, resulting in a rich, complex flavour and gives the tequila añejo a distinctive golden colour.
The word "Añejo" is Spanish and translates into English as "Aged", directly categorising this tequila variant as an "Aged" tequila.
